Daily Fortune Jar

I’m one of those people whose favorite thing about getting Chinese food is the fortune cookie. I’m not a fanatic, but I enjoy a Tarot reading or a Horoscope every now and then. Once, while I was getting my nails done, the girls working at the salon excitedly told me to pick a fortune from their “daily fortune jar.” It was a jar filled with slips of paper that had fortunes written on them. I thought it was a cute idea and decided to make one for my mom (I use it more often than she does).

Although I wrote all of these fortunes myself, they often put a smile on my face, relieve some stress, or give me good advice (especially the one that reminds me to forgive someone!) when I pull one out of the jar. They get put back into the jar after reading, and when I randomly pull the same one out three days in a row, I figure the message is serious!

Here’s what I wrote on mine:

Do something special for yourself today

Do something special for someone you love today

You have been working too hard

There is something you are forgetting

Someone will give you new insight

You will meet someone special

Time is of the essence

Count your blessings

Someone is watching over you

Every journey begins with one step

You are surrounded by love

Someone needs your love today

Now is a good time for change

There is a surprise waiting for you

Forgiveness will bring you happiness

You are brimming with creativity

Sadness seasons our lives

Your expectations may be too high

Release your inner child today

Seek help from a friend

Every rose has its thorns

You are very strong today

Relax and do something fun today

You will receive news today

You will have a chance to fix a mistake

Make plans for the future

You are on an unusual journey

Invite simplicity and clarity into your life

A new opportunity is within your reach

Someone will admire you today

Be genuine and show the real you

You are putting off an important task

You will enjoy success today
